There are not only ceremonial preparations or flags being put up, but also fashion or garment shops in Phuket are adjusting their sales and availabilities of products in serving customers for the upcoming annual vegetarian festival to take place during October 11-19th. During the 10 day period of the vegetarian festival, participants not only refrain from meat consumption, but also wear white to signify the purification of their mind and bodies. The garments are made available both in traditional and fashionable styles. Each year’s fashion however reflects the style and habits of shoppers, as some may not be strict vegetarians, but wear white to go with the flow of the majority of the island.
