Muslims who are now have their fasting time during the holy month of Ramadhan receiving sugar donation from the Phuket Governor. Today, the governor and his wife presided over a ceremony to distributing that donation.
The ceremony, held at Phuket Provincial Hall at 3pm, present in this event was the Phuket Governor Wichai Phraisa-ngop and his wife Thaisika who distribute 51 large sacks of sugar, one for each 51 mosques on the island.
Also attending the event as witnesses were Phuket Provincial Cultural Office Chief Thawichart Intararid, Cherng Talay Tambon Administration Organization President Manote Panchalad and Phuket Islamic Committee member Komol Dumlak.
Noting the importance of fasting to the Muslim community, Gov Wichai said he would try to pay a visit to a different mosque every night during Ramadan, which runs until September 9.
